A QUESTION

Multitudes of Christians regularly sing this hymn by Charles Wesley but do they know what they are asking for?

Oh for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

Charles, as well a John, were charismatic, could hardly have meant a thousand physical tongues since that would make us a monstrosity.
Perhaps there is a clue in verse 16. ( not included in most hymnals)

Then with my heart I first believed,
Believed with faith divine,
Power with the Holy Ghost received
To call the Savior mine.

So the question is, why is this hymn sung by so many who are not seeking this power?

What's interesting, is that I posted a link to your blog only once from my devicenet rfid blog and found that many of my rfid readers were asking for the URL after I took it down. I guess they do have things in common with your readers.
